Bali has great dive sites, with a big variety of underwater life.

Some example of encounters :frogfish, scorpion leaf fish, big cuttle fish, squid, crocodile fish, snakes, sharks, manta rays (up to 20 big ones at the same time, if you are lucky), mola-mola or sunfish, but also, in smaller size, seahorses, pygmies seahorses, pipe fish... You will not get bored !!

The water temperature depends on the tides and the currents, it can vary from 28 degree to 19 degree, so if you bring your wet shirt, take a long one rather than a shorty... 5mn is ok.

Different sites :

Blue lagoon : the closest sites. Rich underwater life with cuttle fish, frogfish, leaf scorpion fish, seahorse, sharks (white tip, nurse, webeggong …) and also very nice corals. It is also a very nice night dive with spanish dancer, big crabs, sharks....It is about 5mn by boat from Padangbai.

Channel : sharks, frogfish, turtle… possibility to go all the way to Blue lagoon to finish the dive, but only if you have enough air. 2mn from Padangbai.

The Gilis : do not mix with the gilis in Lombock. Here we are talking about Gili Tepekong, Mimpang, Biaha and Selang. Several sites further from the coast, famous for the mola-mola, but also sharks, turtles.. very often strong currents, so it is recommended for experienced divers.

Nusa Penida : drift dives in a tropical aquarium, great corals, mola-mola, sharks.. There are about 10 dives sites, some for all level, but most for experienced ones only. Very nice dives and best corals in Bali with Menjangan.

Manta point on Nusa Penida : the site for the manta rays. All year long. Last time about 11 turning around us... Extraordinary.

Amed : lava drop off dives. The coral have been eaten by the big sea star, but they are growing again, great beaches covered with traditional boats, snakes, sharks..

Tulamben : the famous wreck of Bali, nice wreck. The wreck is full of life and cover with corals, gorgonia, sponges. There are several dives around the wreck where you can see the pygmies seahorse, pipefish, scorpion leaf fish, baby cuttle fish..My favorite being the drop off close to the wreck.

Menjangan Park : famous for macro animals, best clear water in bali. We go there only during safari ( 3-4 days or a week included then tulamben and Amed ), but it is worth the trip. There is laso a muck dive close by, which is very interesting for macro. Around the islanf od Menjangan, it is mainly big drop off.

Example of dives by level :

For beginners : You can start with 2 introduction dives, in Blue Lagoon. It is dives of 40-50 mn with your personal instructor. And if you catch the virus, you can continue to the "Open Water”. The training is not compulsory, you can continue diving with your instructor, there are enough sites for you.

Intermediate level : nice dives of an hour and more if you have air left !!

For addicts : nice dives in 30-40m, some of the dives have strong current, so they are more technical and physical.
